چکیده
Abstract Background and Aims Central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) lead to increased morbidity mortality in hemodialysis-dependent patients are costly treat. Devices such as hemodialysis connector caps (Tego) antimicrobial barrier (ClearGuardHD) represent promising interventions reduce CLABSIs. The aim of this study was assess the efficacy these devices reducing CLABSIs who use tunneled dialysis catheters at outpatient units a healthcare system. Method In retrospective review quality improvement project, we compared cumulative 6-month CLABSI infection rates before after transition from Tego connectors ClearGuardHD caps. events, reported National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), were expressed events per 100 patient-months. All adult (age >18 years) receiving via central catheter included February 2018-August 2020. cohort comprised 13 system with locations throughout Northern Midwest Southeastern United States. date change phased different over period recorded 6 months pre- post-intervention. Patients home therapies excluded study. Results event rate decreased by 75.7%; (0.465/100 patient-months) vs. (0.113/100 patient-months). A total 17 occurrences within 3,654 patient-months use. However, only 4 3,527 during Conclusion reduced among superior connectors. These findings support prior studies. Implementation may help eliminate CLABSI-associated individuals requiring maintenance therapy.

متن کاملHemodialysis vascular access infection and mortality in maintenance hemodialysis patients.
UNLABELLED Infectious complications associated with vascular access are a well known cause of increased morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients. The aim of the study was to evaluate the incidence of hemodialysis vascular access infections and patients survival in the group of maintenance hemodialysis patients during a one year observation period. The study group consisted of 213 patien...

When materials managers try to shave costs off of the supply chain, pricing receives the most attention. However, those who also tackle the distribution system and embark on the difficult task of logistics planning could cut an additional 15% from the costs of bringing supplies from manufacturers to end users, industry studies indicate. No one says the task is easy, least of all Larry Dooley, l...
متن کاملInfection-Related Hospitalizations in Home Hemodialysis Patients.
INTRODUCTION AND AIMS Infection is an important cause of hospitalization and death in patients receiving hemodialysis (HD). Few studies have examined infection-related hospitalizations in home HD (HHD) population. The purpose of this study was to examine the scope of infections and the effect of HHD modality (daily home HD (DHD) and conventional home HD (CHD)) on infection-related hospitalizati...
